Equipment is certainly another excellent donation. However, I am hoping they might indeed decide to donate their time working in a clinic for a week or two while on a Kenya vacation.
About five years ago one of our orthopedic surgeons donated his time by working three weeks at Kijabe Hospital. He loved it, and it was an eye opener for him. He said he hadn't seen so many people (including adults) with club feet in all his life, and he was instrumental in surgically correcting many of them. When he got home he was so enthused and got the word around about the desperate need for help in Africa that now there is a whole group of doctors and nurses from our hospital who regularly go to Africa. One team goes yearly to Ghana. About five years ago one of the surgeons brought home a lot of biopsy specimens that she had done in Ghana, and the pathologists I work with diagnosed them. Some were very serious cancers that would have gone undiagnosed and untreated without the help of these volunteers.
Encounters like the above make a huge difference, not only in the patient's life, but also in that of the volunteer.
I don't want to move ahead on anything for the art auction until everything is in place with the incorporaton and tax exempt status but it could turn out to be a huge help.
Just tossing in this info as "to whom it may concern"...
