Cheli & Peacock
Management, Ownerships and Tour Operations
My brief encounter with Stefano Cheli – co owner of Cheli & Peacock.
After a long flight from Zurich to Nairobi, a quick stop off and shower at Norfolk Hotel followed by a brief but important meeting with various International Wildlife Organisations in the city (at this point I was working on a project with the UN-FAO to protect Wildlife Migration paths and the problems surrounding this serious issue), I excused myself as I needed to catch Stefano before he took off by plane to visit one of his camps. I jumped into a waiting Taxi and drove to the Head office of Cheli & Peacock situated at Wilson Airport, Nairobi.
After a brief wait in their reception hall, I was introduced to Stefano - my 1st of many meetings with property owners, directors and hotel managers, however perhaps one that will stay in mind as Stefano and his company understand the issues behind quality tourism in Kenya - combined with Ecotourism more than any of the other encounters I have personally had to date.
Italian by origin, Stefano is exactly what his friends described to me, very professional, a gentleman and straight to the point.
I produced my stack of papers and briefly described the problems and issues I was trying to find and needed to address. Without too many questions asked, he confirmed what I already knew with regards to my project, and like myself believes in – Ecotourism in Kenya controlled properly.
Friends from the UK and Italy have since been to a couple of his camps, and have highly praised the organisation, quality and beauty that Cheli & Peacock offer – therefore on bushdrums.com we highly recommend his company and safaris that he, his wife and the rest of the team organise. We wish them luck and hope that others will follow...
